Series III: League of Nations, 1929-1940

Series comprises primarily notes of conversation, correspondence, memoranda, petitions, documents, notes, speeches and statements, related to Wellington Koo's work with the League of Nations, including the Lytton Commission. Materials include various subject files relating international issues addressed at the League of Nations, and documents relating to the Chinese Delegation's papers, dating from 1929 to 1940. Additional sparse files may be found in Subseries IV.4: International Affairs as time period overlaps with Koo's career as the Chinese Ambassador to France.

Subseries III.1: Lytton Commission, 1929-1933

Subseries includes notes of conversation and correspondence dating from 1929 to 1933 related to the Lytton Commission's investigation and reports on the Mukden Incident (also known as the September 18 Incident), where the Japanese military began its invasion of Manchuria. The notes of conversation include meeting notes of Wellington Koo, as the Chinese Assessor to the Commission of Enquiry into Sino-Japanese Dispute, with the Lytton Commission, Japanese and Chinese government officials. The correspondence, telegram, memoranda, reports emphasize on the Sino-Japanese conflict as well as the Lytton Report which documents the investigation and the findings of the Mukden Incident.
