Series VI: Textiles

This series contains fabric items and is divided into 4 sub-series: Apparel; Beanies and Caps; Flags, Banners, Bags and Pennants; Ribbons, Patches, Sashes and Fabric. Textiles include t-shirts, freshman beanies, reunion and class ribbons, and armbands. Additional textile materials can be found in Academic Costumes and Textiles Collection (UA#0102).

Stitched to display board. Bib made by Charity floyd Johnson, wife of Samuel Johnson, for her eldest son, William Samuel Johnson, in 1727/8. Gift of Mr. Beverley Robinson 1969.

Box 18 Society of the Early Eighties

Reddish linen fabric cut into a flag shap with paper letters spelling out " Mu Mu" glued onto it. Found in a box of Society of the Early Eighties materials.

White bedsheet from Hartley Hall dormitory with blue painted letters. Carried in at least one anti-Vietnam demonstration on C.U. campus during April/May 1968. One corner is burned. Donated by Rick Headlee (1970 CC).


Box 91 The Inauguration of Minouche Shafik, 20th President of Columbia University, 2023 October 4

(2) fabric banners attached to wooden rods with gold colored plastic covers on the ends. Banner is blue with white writing and there is a Columbia crown above the words of the banner. 49" long, 34" wide.
