The Champe Carter Winston Letters consist of 192 letters exchanged between Champe Carter Winston and her friends and family members during the four years she attended Barnard College from 1932-1936. The letters document Champe Carter Winston's familial and social life and sketch a picture of what daily life was like for a relatively privileged Barnard student during the 1930s in New York City. The collection yields insight into the ways that young women represented their college activities to outsiders and how they engaged with and made sense of their lives that were connected to multiple geographies and temporalities.
