In 1977, before the commission was appointed, Provost William Theodore deBary asked department heads to respond to James Young's working paper "Arts and Sciences: A Prospectus for the Nineteen Eighties." Chairs were asked to review their own educational programs and to present their goals for the future. Below are the reports submitted.
