Subseries VI.1: Louis Johnson Dance Theatre Ensemble, 1985-2010
This subseries contains materials related to the Louis Johnson Dance Theatre Ensemble, the final iteration of Johnson's dance company that was operated through Henry Street Settlement. There is some overlap between this subseries and the Henry Street Settlement materials in Series V as photographs suggest that the Louis Johnson Dance Theatre Ensemble and the Henry Street Kids would perform at the same events.

Subseries VI.4: Research, Undated
This subseries contains materials that are not immediately connected to Johnson's productions but seem important to his relationship to Black culture, dance, and social issues. Johnson often centered Black women Civil Rights figures and artists in his productions, so materials related to Black women's political and artistic accomplishments have been collected here. Some of Johnson's costume designs can be found here; more can be found in subseries 7. Materials related to HIV/AIDS awareness and events are collected here. Also found here is a collection of graphic lynching photographs that Johnson had in his possession. It seems likely that these were kept as part of his interest in thinking about legacies of Black performance stemming from blackface minstrelsy (including Black blackface minstrelsy) and white racial violence.
