During World War II, Krim served in the U.S. Army (1942–1945). From First Lieutenant, he rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. During his military tenure, Krim served with Colonel William J. Brennan, Jr. (1906–1997), who later became an associate justice of the U.S. Supreme Court (1956–1990), and James P. Mitchell (1900–1964), a former U.S. Secretary of Labor (1953–1961). He carried out special assignments in the United States and the Pacific for Under Secretary of War Robert S. Patterson (1891–1952) and Brehon B. Somerville (1892–1955), Commanding General of the Army Services Forces. Krim was commended by his superiors for his ability to effectively assist business and industry to increase military aircraft and equipment production and resolve critical manpower issues.
