Shirley Hazzard (1931-2016) was a novelist, short-story writer, and essayist. She also wrote two non-fiction books about the United Nations. Hazzard was born in Australia, but left the country in 1951, living in New York City and Capri, Italy. The papers include address books, appointment books, audiovisual materials, books, clippings, correspondence, diaries, manuscripts, notebooks, notes, photographs, printed materials, and research files.

The contents of the collection include: correspondence, manuscripts, minutes of "Zagranichnai︠a︡ Delegat︠s︡i︠a︡" meetings from the 1920s, and financial records both from the Party organization in Russia (1908-1915) and from its Estonian and Finnish affiliates (1922). The collection's subject files are particularly rich in materials on S.R. groups in foreign countries and on Party infiltrators ("provokatory"), including E.F. Azef. The collection also contains photographs of several prominent S.R.s, including Ekaterina Breshko-Breshkovskai︠a︡; printed materials, including the first five issues of "Sot︠s︡ialist Revoli︠u︡t︠s︡ioner (1927-1932); and seals from the offices of the "Zagranichnai︠a︡ Delegat︠s︡i︠a︡." Correspondents which figure prominently in the collection are: Nikolaĭ D. Avksentév, Viktor M. Chernov, Ili︠́a︡ I. Fondaminskiĭ, Osip S. Minor and Vladimir M. Zenzinov; there is one letter by Azef. Much of the pre-1920 correspondence is addressed to Mark A. Natanson; after 1922 a large number of the letters are addressed to Sergeĭ P. Rostnikov.

The records of the Soiuz byvshikh russkikh sudebnykh deiatelei vo Frantsii (Association of Former Russian Magistrates in France) from its inception in 1925 through 1970. The most frequently recurring materials are: correspondence, both general and specifically related to membership drives and fund-raising activities; minutes and organization memoranda; legal briefs on behalf of clients settling disputes before arbitration panels; and mimeo and printed materials, especially clippings. Included among the correspondence are several letters from Generals Denikin, Miller and Vrangel.

Correspondence, photographs, minutes, financial records, subject files, printed material and membership files of Soi︠u︡z Russkikh Shofferov (the Union of Russian Chauffeurs) founded in Paris in 1926 and incorporated in 1945 into the French drivers union, Cochers et Chauffeurs de Voitures de Place as a Russian local. The organization functioned both as a fraternal society and a labor union; it operated a credit union, a summer resort, a dining hall and a library, and also interceded on behalf of its members (ca. 1,000 in 1945) before French governmental authorities. The bulk of the collection is comprised of membership records, minutes of meetings, financial records and subject files. There is also correspondence between members and the union office, and photographs taken at the summer resort in 1934 and 1936.

Spanish Refugee Relief Association Records, 1935-1957

Records of the North American Committee to Aid Spanish Democracy and Medical Bureau to Aid Spanish Democracy, two New York City-based American organizations working to raise funds and provide medical and humanitarian aid for the Republican cause in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), and to refugees who fled Spain after the defeat of the Republican forces in April 1939. The organizations formally merged in January 1938 and became known as the Spanish Refugee Relief Campaign. These files include the organization's official reports, correspondence, pamphlets, broadsides, photographs, and publicity material, as well as several scrapbooks of news clippings.
