Collection highlights Barnard campus labor unions and labor campaigns from 1972-2016. The collection consists of contracts and agreements between organizations and their employees, pamphlets, newspaper clippings, fliers, and memoranda from United Auto Workers (UAW) Union Local 2110 (formarly District 65). In 1996 UAW Local 2110 stiked against the college due to increasing healthcare costs. The 1996 strike is a highlight of the collection.

This collection consists of the Barnard College Annual and Mortarboard yearbooks, which are bound volumes depicting life at Barnard and honoring the graduating classes. Volumes contain pen and ink sketches done by students, photographs of student activities, formal portraits of students and staff, histories of the college, histories of academic departments, retrospectives looking back on the events at Barnard of that year, and letters from the Dean of the College. Mortarboards also contain student directories, lists and photographs of faculty and administrators, photographs of the graduating class, photographs from various events and clubs, and advertisements by local businesses.

"This is a working syllabus, not a strait jacket." Quandra Prettyman was a professor and writer who pioneered Black literary courses in the United States. Described as a "Champion of Black Women's Literature," she made waves as Barnard's first full-time Black faculty member. Her commitment to disseminating knowledge about Black literature and the advancement of students' academic abilities and ventures is highlighted throughout the materials present in this collection. She began her Barnard career in 1970, and continued teaching for the next five decades. This collection includes a record of Quandra's efforts and achievements in creating her courses, as well as her participation in a variety of organizations, and service to her community. It consists of her professional, academic, and personal papers.
