Correspondence, manuscripts, and notes. The correspondence consists of a selected file for 1936-40; 1942-43, in 5 bound volumes documenting White's career as Librarian at Fisk University, the University of North Carolina and the University of Illinois. Among the correspondence are Robert B. Downs, Louis Round Wilson, and William Warner Bishop, as well as numerous other college and university librarians and presidents. Also includes photocopies of correspondence (11 items, 1947-48) relating to the library school program at Columbia University, specifically the creation of a full professorship for a specialist in the "foundation of librarianship" and correspondence (24 items, 1961-65) relating to White's activities in Nigeria as program specialist in library administration for the Ford Foundation. There are three mimeographed copies of bibliographies by White et al.: "Sources of Information in Economics, Business and Labor: a Bibliography;" "Social Psychology;" and "Political Science" as well as handwritten notes for same. These bibliographies were used in his course work for the School of Library Service. Also included are 2 offprints concerning the education for librarianship; one photograph and 2 postcards of different university libraries.

Correspondence of Williamson covering his college years and his positions at Bryn Mawr College, the New York Public Library, the Carnegie Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. A significant portion of Williamson's Columbia University correspondence and memoranda is addressed to or related to Roger Howson, University Librarian from 1926 to 1940. The manuscripts, chiefly typescripts, are concerned with library science and educational topics. Also, clippings and pamphlet files with some related correspondence and typescripts dealing with education and particularly the use of television as a teaching aid.

Correspondence, memoranda, reports, curricular materials, and other records. These files are arranged in the following series: General Correspondence, Documentary History (curricular materials), Dean's Office, School of Library Service Alumni Association Study of Student Characteristics, Student Committees, Reading Abilities of Masters Candidates, American Correspondence School of Librarianship, and SLS Alumni Files (essays and articles by alumni).

Correspondence, course outlines, reading lists, programs, minutes, and survey questionnaires on hospital libraries. These papers contain her correspondence and course related materials for hospital librarianship which she taught at Columbia University, 1945-1947; her correspondence and teaching materials for the Columbia Conference on Hospital Library Service and Training, 30 November 1945; her correspondence, minutes, and program for the Columbia Institute on Library Service in Hospitals, 16 April 1946; and questionnaires and data summary sheets for a survey of New England and Mid-Atlantic hospital and patients' libraries she conducted for the Library School in April 1947, for the purpose of developing a curriculum to train librarians for medical and patients' libraries. It also includes a copy Ernestine Rose's book, The Public Library in American Life (Columbia University Press, 1954).

This collection contains the recorded minutes from the different faculty meetings: from the representative University Council to the individual schools (Columbia College, Engineering, Journalism, Law, etc.). Faculty meeting minutes include information on admissions, the academic calendar, curricular changes, faculty appointments and leaves, student petitions, fellowships, grants, prizes, and graduation requirements among other topics. Unfortunately, this collection is not complete. Additional minutes can be found in the record collections of the different faculties. For example, there is complete set of the minutes of the Faculty of Columbia College in the Columbia College records. Similarly, the minutes of the Seth Low Junior College and the minutes for the New York School of Social Work can be found in their respective collections.

Correspondence and some printed ephemera and reviews pertaining to Kenneth Lohf's work on the INDEX TO LITTLE MAGAZINES, INDEX TO THE LITTLE REVIEW, and bibliographies of Yvor Winters, Sherwood Anderson, Frank Norris, Joseph Conrad, and Marianne Moore, which he compiled with Eugene P. Sheey. Included are 35 letters from Robert Greenwood, publisher and poet. There are also books inscribed to Lohf and books and articles by him. In addition, there are more than 300 autograph letters and manuscripts chiefly of ninteenth century English writers, artists, academics, statesmen and other historical figures collected by Lohf

This collection contains materials used and created by Marion Elizabeth Cook during her time as a student in the School of Library Service in the academic year 1940-1941. Items include her class notes, annotated syllabi, and library related publications.

This collection consists of records and files generated by the Columbia University School of Library Service from 1926 to its closure in 1992. The materials consist of alumni files, Office of the Dean files, course materials, copies of course bulletins, annual reports, and student records.
