This series contains minute books for the Clearing House Association, Clearing House Committee, and other committees, including the Bank Officers, Committee on Admissions, Loan Committees, Nomination Committee, and Tax Committee. There is some additional material on committees in Series IX: General Historical Records.

The Central Administration Series, which contains the majority of the records in the collection, documents the deliberations over divestment between Presidents McGill and Sovern, the Board of Trustees, the University Senate, students, alumni, and faculty. The series contains the official resolutions and statements by the Trustees and its Finance Committee (led by Anthony Knerr), the Senate, as well as the Ad Hoc Committee on University Investments in Corporations Doing Business in South Africa. Other materials include background research and reports on South Africa and corporate responsibility, meeting notes and memos, and stockholder reports. There is also correspondence with related stakeholders including companies, Columbia students and alumni, and administrators from other universities. Box 3, labeled South Africa I-XI, contains records sent to and from Marion Jemmott, the University Secretary in the early 1980s, who was responsible for supporting the work of the Board of Trustees. The rest of the folders contain materials from the Office of the President.

This series contains extensive materials related to the operation of the publishing firm that Plimpton led for decades. Currently arranged as previously processed, the series includes correspondence, company reports, photographs, mailings, and other materials dating from 1877 to 1936. While documents dating before 1911 are grouped by year, most documents dating after 1911 are associated with the employee who wrote or received them.

A large part of the collection is contained within Series IV, a group of papers related to the Cragsmoor Community properties. This series is made up of correspondence and organization files, with some legal papers interspersed among the letters. The general correspondence file contains letters regarding the general fundraising and upkeep up the theater from a variety of local artists and friends. Wright wrote extensively to raise money, both to buy and maintain the theater, and organized all of the tenants of the theater and adjoining restaurants. Many of the letters contain financial pledges to the community, or responses to his requests. Because of the financial difficulties of maintaining the theater, Wright also wrote to the creditors of the theater. This series also contains insurance policies, leases, and other business papers in relation to the letters. Wright also kept meeting minutes, leases, and legal papers related to the community ownership of the theater.
