Zosa Szajkowski Collection, 1900s-1947

This collection contains an eclectic variety of materials collected by Jewish historian, archivist, and bibliographer Zosa Szajkowski (1911-1978). Materials include organizational records, documents, correspondence, periodicals, printed ephemera related mainly to Eastern European Jewish life in France in 1920s and 1930s and on the territories of modern Ukraine, Lithuania, Poland and Russia in the first quarter of the 20th century. There are also materials of the Russkii Obshchekolonial'nyi Komitet v Parizhe, Comité des Delegations Juives, Kharbinskoe Evreiskoe Dukhovnoe Obshchestvo, and papers of A. (Aleksei) Lozovskii.

Motzkin, the Comité des Délégations Juives was composed of delegations from Palestine, the United States

(the World Jewish Congress' precursor organizations were the American Jewish Congress and the Comité des Délégations Juives (Committee of Jewish Delegations). The latter was established in March 1919 to represent Jewish communities at the Paris Peace Conference, and advocated for Jewish minority rights in various countries, including the negotiation of rights for Jews in Turkey in the Treaty of Sèvres (1920) and special agreements with smaller eastern European states. Headed by Russian Zionist Leo Motzkin, the Comité des Délégations Juives was composed of delegations from Palestine, the United States, Canada, Russia, Ukraine, Poland, East Galicia, Romania, Transylvania, Bukovyna, Czechoslovakia, Italy, Yugoslavia, and Greece, and funded mainly by the World Zionist Organization)

Boehm Foundation records, 1963-2004, bulk 1993-2002

This collection consists of the records of the Boehm Foundation, a philanthropic organization that provided grants primarily to fund groups devoted to promoting democratic government and civil rights. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence, grant proposals, and printed materials related to these individual grants and the grantee organizations. There is also a small amount of administrative material, including financial reports, internal memos, and board meeting minutes.

This series is composed largely of financial records of the Boehm Foundation, including its annual reports and dockets from the quarterly board meetings at which grant decisions were finalized. It also includes a number of documents which detail the various trust arrangements related to the Foundation and the membership of its board of trustees. Lastly, this series contains a variety of material related to the business of running the Foundation, including its promotional materials (with grant guidelines), letter templates, internal memos, and staff lists, among other items. Material in this series is organized by subject, with one exception: a binder included in the collection has been deconstructed for preservation purposes, but its varied contents remain together.

Brenda Miller Cooper was an American operatic soprano who was a regular performer at New York City Opera from 1947 to the early 1960s. The materials in this collection were compiled by Brenda Miller Cooper during the premiere of Douglas Moore's Pulitzer Prize-winning opera, Giants in the Earth, in 1951 at Columbia University, in which she created the role of Beret.

The V. K. Wellington Koo papers document the diplomatic legacy of Wellington Koo as a Chinese statesman and diplomat of the 20th Century. The papers primarily consist of materials collected during Koo's diplomatic career, relating to the Lytton Commission, 1932-1933; the League of Nations, 1931-1940; the United Nations, 1944-1946; his ambassadorships to France, 1932-1941; to Britain, 1941-1946; to the United States, 1946-1956; as the Senior Advisor to the Republic of China from 1956; and as the Judge on the International Court of Justice, 1957-1966. The materials include correspondence, diaries, memoranda, manuscripts, documents, notes, speeches, maps, photographs, printed material, and audio visual material. The bulk of the materials emphasizes China's domestic and foreign affairs, such as the Sino-Japanese conflict, World War II and the Cold War in the Far East region, as well as the League of Nations and the United Nations.

Subseries comprises incoming and outgoing letters and telegrams, dating from 1932 to 1941. The letters contain personal and embassy matters, mostly to Koo, but also other embassy officials such as C.K. Sze (施肇夔; 字德潜) and K.H. Fu (傅冠雄, 字筱峯). The personal correspondence also include resume sent to Koo seeking employment in oversea offices and other personal matters. The letters between 1940 and 1941 focus on the war situation in Europe during the embassy's relocation from Paris to Vichy in 1940 after Paris was occupied by Nazi Germany. The telegrams compose of telegraphic communication exchanged between Koo as the Ambassador to France and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as well as other important government officials.
