Sea captain, merchant. Waite, born in Newbury, Mass., commanded one of the transports in General James Wolfe's expedition against Quebec in 1759. He was later a member of the Provincial Congress, 1776, and in the same year was appointed Sheriff of Cumberland County, Maine, which office he held until 1809. He was a Colonel of the First Regiment.
