Willard Mullin (1902-1978) was a New York-based sports cartoonist, considered by the National Cartoonist Society as the "Sports Cartoonist of the Century." Mullin did daily cartoons for the New York World-Telegram and Sun for decades, as well as in the Sporting News, yearbook cover illustrations for several New York teams, Time magazine covers, illustrations for the Sportswriters Association, the Saturday Evening Post, Collier's, Look, Life, Liberty, and more. He was also a prolific advertising illustrator, with work for accounts such as Shell gasoline, Rambler, Spalding sporting goods, and even Columbia University.
