Ryszard Dabrowski, born in 1968, is a Polish comic book artist and creator of the popular Likwidator series. The Likwidator, a masked social justice warrior, eco terrorist and homicidal anarchist, has been a thorn in the side of Poland's conservative Law and Justice Party since his creation in 1995. In addition to his devilish grin and propensity for excessive violence, Likwidator has also mastered time travel and on two occasions has journeyed to the past to offer his help to likeminded anarchists. His first foray was Likwidator in Ukraine in 2008, which saw the masked anarchist fighting alongside Nestor Ivanovych Makhno (1888-1934) a revered cult figure among anarchists. Makhno took on the Whites and despite some punctual alliances with the Reds to defeat Denikin, he resisted the Bolsheviks as well. In Likwidator in Ukraine, Dabrowski's hero goes so far as to kidnap Lenin which brings down the wrath of Trotsky and the superior numbers of the Red Army which eventually drove Makhno into exile. The appeal of Makhno was such a threat to the Russian hierarchy, that he was demonized on television and in film but his legend endures. Most recently (2020), Dabrowski's Likwidator in Ukraine has been reprinted in Germany to great acclaim.
