The collection includes the project files and architectural drawings of the Taliesin Associated Architects, the firm that was established after the death of Frank Lloyd Wright in 1959. Projects include commissions that were left on Wright's desk at the time of his death as well as independent commissions and renovation work. Over 1,000 architectural projects are represented either in the paper records, the architectural drawings, or both.

Historical and literary letters and manuscripts collected by Clifford include letters from Samuel Johnson, diaries of Hester Lynch Salusbury Thrale Piozzi and those of her second husband, Gabriel Piozzi; a review of Clifford's book on Mrs. Piozzi and approximately nine drafts of one of Virginia Woolfs last typescripts.

Hugh Ferriss architectural drawings and papers, 1906-1980, bulk 1918-1960

Hugh Ferriss (1889-1962) was an architectural renderer known for his vision of the modern city and his ability to translate vast projects into dramatic but clear-cut images. Ferriss published two books: The Metropolis of Tomorrow (1929) and Power of Buildings (1953). The collection was donated to Avery Library by Ferriss' family after his death, and has been supplemented by several later additions from other sources. 363 original drawings in the collection have been photographed and digitized and can be viewed via links in the finding aid's container listing.

Carnegie Corporation of New York, Series III: Grant Records, 1911-1994

The Corporation awards grants to nonprofit organizations and institutions for projects that are broadly educational in nature and that show promise of having national or international impact. Certain appropriations are made for activities, such as Corporation-led initiatives that are administered by the foundation's officers. The trustees set the overall policies of the foundation and have final authority to approve all grants above $50,000 recommended by the program staff. Grants of $25,000 or less, called discretionary grants, are made upon the approval of the president and are reported to the board; larger discretionary grants, those between $25,000 and $50,000, are also reviewed by a Corporation-wide group, which makes recommendations to the president. Charles H. Warner Jr. architectural records, 1940s-1990s

Charles H. Warner Jr. was a New York-based architect active from the 1940s through the 1990s. Warner designed many buildings on college campuses in the United States and abroad. Additionally, Warner built many hotels, working extensively with Hilton Hotels to build new establishments all over the world. His work in foreign countries underscores his core architectural principle of designing "in context," or incorporating local culture and tradition into his buildings. Some of his more well-known hotel projects include the Ramses Hilton in Cairo and the Caribe Hilton in San Juan.

The Amiri Baraka Papers contains correspondence, writings, and the personal, political activism and teaching materials related to Amiri Baraka's career as a poet, writer, editor, activist, and teacher in the New York City Beat, Downtown, and Black Arts literary scenes from the 1960s through the 2000s. Included are manuscripts from Baraka's numerous books of poetry, non-fiction, fiction, plays, editorial work, and screenplays. The collection also features organizational and documentary materials relating to Baraka's university teaching and Newark, NJ-based Black radical activism, as well as audio/visual material, photographs, and printed material collected and created by Baraka.
