This series contains the materials relating to dr. Hamburg's activities as a President of the Carnegie Corporation of New York, the title he assumed in 1982. His corporation files frequently contain earlier background material on various subjects, or fragments of his own earlier writings, which he edited and used as building blocks for subsequent projects. The files reflect five formal program areas, established by Carnegie Corporation : Avoiding Nuclear War (ANW); Education: Science, Technology and the Economy; Prevention of Damage to Children; Strengthening Human Resources in Developing Countries (HRDC); and Special Projects The materials in this series are closely related to the Carnegie Corporation of New York Records collection, held in the RBML. . In cases, when holdings, such as agenda books, or printed materials, duplicated between the two collections, the items, already held in the Carnegie Corporation of New York Records were weeded from the Hamburg papers.

This series contains autograph books belonging to Theodore Barrell's children, Walter Newberry Barrell and Theodora Barrell, a diary and cashbook belonging to Theodore Barrell from 1841 and an exercise book belonging to John Stayner Barrell dated 1814-1816.

This series contains Herbert L. Matthews' correspondence with his family and the personal papers of several relatives. Matthews' correspondence to his brother John L. Matthews constitutes the bulk of the correspondence and conveys Herbert Matthews' perspectives and opinions on many American and world events from the mid-1940s to his retirement after 1967 and into the 1970s. John L. Matthews' papers on World War I, his writings, and family photographs provide information about the life of Herbert Matthews' brother.

This series comprises cassettes, VHS tapes, and photographs pertaining to Jones' personal life and literary career. The VHS tapes contain recordings of Jones' appearances on various documentaries and television shows, primarily relating to the Beat/Downtown New York literary scene. The cassette tapes primarily consist of recordings of Jones' radio appearances and interviews, as well as public readings of her works.
