Ainslie Embree (1921-2017) was a leading scholar of modern South Asian history and notable for his influence on the introduction of the field into United States university curricula. He was Professor of History at Columbia University and Director of the Southern Asia Institute. The collection contains material related to Embree's scholarly work, including teaching, research, and writing and publishing, as well as some personal materials.

This collection contains professional and personal materials of Reverend Doctor James Hal Cone, a pioneering voice in American religious history and founder of Black Liberation Theology. Materials include writings, notes, teaching materials such as syllabi and student work, lectures and documentation of speaking engagements, supporting research for and manuscripts of publications, photographs, personal and professional correspondence, documentation of committee and other work at UTS, AV materials used for research and documenting speaking engagements, books, and awards and memorabilia.

Earl Herbert Cressy was a missionary to China who worked with the Central China Famine Relief Committee and served as the executive secretary of the Council of Christian Colleges in China and as the associate general secretary of the National Christian Council of China. This collection contains reports and drafts, charts, tabulations, maps, surveys, summaries of data, and other materials related to Cressy's research on Chinese religious institutions, mostly in Hangzhou.

David J. Langston; M.Div, UTS 1971; Ph.D. English-American Literature, Stanford 1977; student member of Union's Core Experimental Program 1968-1970. The collection includes primary drafts, proposals, memoranda, ephemera, photographs, and published matter concerning Core programming at Union during the late 1960s-early 1970s as well as student activities in and around Union on issues such as anti-war activism, racial justice, and anti-apartheid organizing.

This is an artifical collection composed of audiocassette recordings, held by the Burke Library, of various theological conferences and events, including the Evangelical Women's Caucus, the First International Congress on the Meaning of Human Suffering, God's Call to a New Beginning Conference, and the 1986 and 1987 National Workshop on Christian Unity, among others.

Ada María Isasi-Díaz was an activist, theologian, UTS alumna, and Professor of Ethics and Theology at Drew University. The collection contains lectures, correspondence, working papers, publications and manuscripts, sermons, liturgies, syllabi and teaching notes, conference materials, AV materials, professional awards, and other related materials from the files of Ada María Isasi-Díaz and related to her work with women's organizations.

Letty Mandeville Russell was a renowned theologian and Professor of Theology at Yale Divinity School (YDS) and an alumna of Harvard Divinity School and Union Theological Seminary, who worked in East Harlem Protestant Parish, was a director of Religious Education at Church of the Ascension, and a PCUSA home missionary. The collection includes syllabi, notes and course material relating to her tenure at YDS; manuscripts, notes and correspondence relating to her publications; reports, minutes and correspondence concerning work on denominational bodies, ecumenical task forces and committees, nonprofit organizations, and professional associations; correspondence; and memorabilia.

Emilie M. Townes is a womanist ethicist and an author and speaker on African American women and the church, specializing in themes such as the oppressive forces of race, sex, and sexuality in the church and society. She has held appointments at the Vanderbilt University Divinity School, the Yale Divinity School, and Union Theological Seminary. The collection contains addresses and sermons, publications, correspondence, coursework and teaching material, memorabilia, and other related materials that reflect her life, work, and thought as a womanist theologian.

Bertha Mary Magdalen Mugrauer was a professor at Xavier University in New Orleans, Louisiana, and founded a chapter of Caritas, a women's religious organization including women of all races dedicated to working and living among the poor. The collection contains six microcards of Mugrauer's 1950 dissertation "A Cultural Study of Ten Negro Girls in an Alley."

Katie Geneva Cannon, the first African-American woman ordained in the United Presbyterian Church, was a minister, professor, and foundational voice of womanist theology. The collection contains professional and personal materials including coursework, biographical material, artwork, teaching resources including syllabi, writing and research materials including drafts and notes, sermons, lectures and documentation of speaking engagements, correspondence, and publicity materials.
