This subseries contains correspondence which is arranged chronologically and consists of Cordier's correspondence while at Columbia University from 1968 through 1974. Some of this correspondence discusses events surrounding the riots and protests of 1968, the Gymnasium issue, the Joint Committee on Disciplinary Affairs, and the disciplinary tribunals. This subseries also contains Cordier's alphabetical correspondence files, which have retained their original order and titles. Original photographs in "General, March-April 1969" and "Alphabetical "W-Z" 1968-1970" have been housed with the biographical photograph collection under "Cordier, Andrew." The photograph from "General, October-December, 1969" has been housed with the photograph collection under "Buildings and Grounds-Morningside Campus, Engineering Building, exterior." Photocopies remain in the folder.

This subseries contains draft reports and the information Cordier used to write his annual report of 1969-70. The President's Report (or Annual Report) ceased publication in 1948 and did not resume publication until Cordier reinstated it in 1968-69. Also included in this subseries are the annual reports from various departments and schools that provided Cordier with information for his report. Individual departmental and school annual reports are arranged alphabetically by department or school name.

These files were transferred to the University Archives from the Office of the Secretary at an unknown date, but presumably in the late 1990s. They consist of some alphabetical subject/correspondence files (e.g. appointment letters, emeritus designations, crank letters, South Africa, etc.) as well as general correspondence files from 1980-1995 (bulk 1986-1990) which were found loose and arranged chronologically by archives staff. The general correspondence files consist primarily of letters to and from Secretaries of the University Marion E. Jemmott and Corinne H. Rieder who would answer routine questions about University history, alumni attendance, professor appointments, use of the Seal and other similar topics. All folders are now acid-free, original folder titles were maintained if deemed appropriate and new folder titles were created as needed. Metal was not removed and some file contents may not be in exact chronological order.

Alphabetical correspondence is not only organized by last name, but also by topic, such as "Commencement," "Chicago, University of," and "Proof Reading." In the alphabetical subseries, there is considerable correspondence with Kay Runge of the University of Heidelberg. The folders of "Alphabetical-Moszkowski, Steven A." and "Miscellaneous-John Wiley and Sons" contain correspondence regarding,Beta Decay, a book co-authored by Wu and Moszkowski and published by John Wiley Sons Publishers in 1965. Folder "Miscellaneous-Fan Mail" contains some requests for autographs and photos of Wu, but similar letters can be found throughout the chronological correspondence files as well. The folder of correspondence of Glenn R. Schleede contains a photograph from the White House of President Ford signing the bill to create the Office of Science and Technology Policy in 1976. Folder "Miscellaneous-Job Inquiries Declined" contains letters to and from Wu and other faculty in the Physics Department of Columbia University regarding teaching positions and are arranged alphabetically by surname of the person applying. Similar correspondence can be found throughout the chronological correspondence. The folder "Miscellaneous-Free Circulation of Scientists" focuses on the resolution of that name passed by the International Council of Scientific Unions regarding issues like the Soviet scientists who were being prevented from leaving the country. In a letter dated April 9, 1975, Wu declined an invitation from President McGill to serve on the Ad Hoc Committee of Columbia to study comparative salaries of men and women.

Subseries 1 contains alphabetical correspondence files. Some of the outgoing correspondence is duplicated in Subseries 2. Included are the files pertaining to the Student Protests of 1968.

This subseries is composed of correspondence with and proposals for funding from various local and national foundations to support the construction of the Art Center as well as fellowships and programming money for the School of the Arts. Files are arranged alphabetically by the name of the foundation.

This subseries consists of the records of the Fact-Finding Commission appointed to investigate the student protests, chaired by Archibald Cox (Professor of Law, Harvard University). The bulk of the materials consist of transcripts of the testimony given before the Commission, May–July 1968. In addition, the Cox Commission collected various exhibits, reports, publications, and other materials relevant to the hearings; these materials are organized alphabetically.
