Although the collection spans Reece's career, the early years are sparsely documented. Half of the collection deals with his monograph and periodical publications, including book reviews of them. There are letters from prominent American librarians, with numerous letters from Robert B. Downs and Jack Dalton. Many of these are letters congratulating him on being the first recipient of the Melvil Dewey Professorhip at Columbia and upon his retirement. Also, many handwritten drafts of his letters.

Correspondence, poetry manuscripts, diaries, notebooks, address books, documents, photographs, and scrapbooks of clippings of Eugene Barry. The correspondence concerns his published poetry, the leather tanning business, and family affairs. The diaries reflect his active business life and travels from 1864 until 1926. There are photographs of members of the Barry, Clark, Wyman, and other related families, and of friends and actresses. The four scrapbooks contain clippings of poetry, obituaries, local news of Lynn, Mass., World War I, and other subjects. Among the correspondents are Thomas Wentworth Higginson, Henry Cabot Lodge, Ellen Louise Chandler Moulton, Booker T. Washington, and John Greenleaf Whittier.

Personal, administrative, political, and investigative files of Nickerson. The papers deal almost entirely with his eight years as County Executive, and consist of correspondence, memoranda, manuscripts of speeches, notes, press releases, photographs, and clippings. Among the major correspondents are James A. Farley, Hubert H. Humphrey, Robert F. Kennedy, Edward I. Koch, and Percy E. Sutton. The Investigation Files, which amount to nearly half the collection, document investigation into corruption and mismanagement in numerous Long Island businesses and governmental departments. These investigations, instigated and overseen by Nickerson, were carried out largely by the Commissioner of Accounts, Milton Lipson, and later by Samuel Greason, the first governmental ombudsman in the United States. These files consist primarily of memoranda, transcripts of hearings, payroll and financial accounts, notes, and tape recordings.

Collection includes memoirs, clippings, and photographs. Her memoirs discuss encounters with Shali︠a︡pin, Jean de Reszke, and others, and Lev Kanegisser, who murdered M.S. Urit︠s︡kiĭ in 1918.

Correspondence, manuscripts, documents, photographs, subject file, and printed materials of Evgenii︠a︡ I. Vagner and her husband, I︠U︡liĭ N. Vagner. While most of the correspondence is personal, some of it relates to I︠U︡liĭ Vagner's scientific research. There is a manuscript by an unknown person about Ivan D. Sytin, and a number of notebooks with entries by Evgenii︠a︡ Vagner. The documents, which include passports, travel documents, service records, and diplomas of both Evgenii︠a︡ Vagner and her husband, mainly concern their lives in emigration in Bulgaria, Yugoslavia, and, at the end of World War II, in Germany. There are three folders of photographs, a subject file concerning Evgenii︠a︡ Vagner's post cards and copies of two editions of a book by I︠U︡liĭ Vagner"Nachalńyĭ kurs prirodovedenii︠a︡" Kiev, 1908, and Belgrade, 1924.

Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, subject files, and printed materials of Evgenii Aleksandrovich Vechorin, chiefly concerning alumni of the St. Petersburg Polytechnical Institute. The catalogued correspondence includes letters from Nikolai Andreev, Petr Savitskii, Igor ́Sikorskii, Gleb Struve, and Alfred Swann, and other prominent figures. Much of the arranged correspondence is from fellow graduates of the Institute, and concerns alumni affairs. Most of the manuscripts are likewise by fellow graduates; many are memoirs, such as those by Vechorin himself, while others concern technical subjects. Among the subject files are biographical sketches of Institute graduates and files on such individuals as Petr Savitskii, Igor ́Sikorskii, and Alfred Swann. There are several photographs taken at the Institute ca. 1900 as well as photographs of Vechorin and his colleagues after emigration. The printed materials include clippings and excerpts, miscellaneous journals, and books by Vechorin and S. P. Timoshenko.

The bulk of the collection consists of Mrs. Bri︠u︡nelli's 35 diaries, covering the years 1891-1956. The correspondence consists of letters from Mrs. Bri︠u︡nelli's sister in Leningrad from 1922 to the early 1940s. Pavel Bri︠u︡nelli's memoirs are on the emigration in France in the 1920s and 1930s. The printed materials are made up largely of his writings.
