Most of the letters in this collection were written to Isabel Pelham Shaw Lowell (Mrs. Frederick) and Mrs. George R. Shaw during the first World War. They reflect his work as a founder of L'Aide Affectueuse aux Musiciens, an aid organization for French musicians, and his opinions about the war.
