Henry Hope Reed (1915-2013) was an American author, architecture critic and advocate of classical architecture. Along with writing and giving New York City walking tours, Reed served curator of Central Park and co-founder of Classical America. This collection contains his writings, correspondence, photographs and extensive research files on classical architecture and the people, parks, buildings, streets and history of New York City.
Mort Lindsey (1923-2012) was an arranger, composer, pianist, and bandleader who worked with Judy Garland, Merv Griffin, Barbra Streisand, and other popular entertainers. This collection comprises scores of Lindsey's compositions and arrangements, along with administrative documents from his stage, film, and television career.
The bulk of the collection consists of Benckendorff family correspondence with prominent Russian noble families, documents, and photographs. There are also manuscripts, financial statements and drawings.
