Subseries VI.14: Occupation Period Materials, 1945-1998 [Bulk Dates: 1945-1952], 1945-1998

Scope and content:

Although this subseries covers Occupation period materials and the Allied Occupation of Japan lasted from 1945-1952 there are also items from the latter part of the 1950s and early 1960s in this subseries. This subseries contains entertainment newspapers and labor union newsletters during the period of the Allied Occupation of Japan, also referred to as GHQ period (General Headquarters) in Makino's Collection.

The subseries also contain fliers, pamphlets, programs, (handbills) of American film showings in movie theaters that were promoted by the Central Motion Picture Exchange (CMPE), est. November 1946 as an arm of the Civil Information and Education Section (CIE) of SCAP (Supreme Commander for the Allied Powers). The subseries also contains film production company (film studio) newsletters and bulletins.
