Scope and content:

The collection consists of the manauscripts of Fuhrmann's articles, notes, and related items on the history of printing and graphic arts. A great many of Fuhrmann's articles were about Johann Gutenberg. There is also correspondence, primarily with people well known in the printing trade.

Biographical / historical:

Otto W. Fuhrmann (1889-1966). Director of Graphic Arts at New York University. Fuhrmann was formerly on the staff of Columbia University Libraries.

The following boxes are located off-site: Boxes 2-7. You will need to request this material from the Rare Book and Manuscript Library at least three business days in advance to use the collection in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room.
