This subseries, arranged alphabetically, comprises the bulk of the collection. It includes photographic copies of illustrations and political cartoons and caricatures, which originally appeared in a variety of mid-19th to early 20th century American print publications, includingLeslie's Illustrated Newspaper(Leslie's Weekly)(1852-1922),Harper's Magazine(1850-),Peterson's Magazine(1842–1898),Godey's Magazine and Lady's Book(1830–1878),Puck(1871-1918),Collier's(1888-),The American Magazine(1906-1956), as well as German-language American publications, includingIllinois Staats-Zeitung(Illinois State Newspaper) (1848-1921). A limited number of hand-colored copies are present. It also includes a small number of oversized reproductions, as well as original drawings of Joseph Pulitzer.
