Fifty-eight letters, including three fragments of letters, from Berenson to Prince Paul of Yugoslavia (1893-1976), 1935-1949. The letters deal with art and esthetics, travel, international affairs, and the personal lives of Berenson and Prince Paul. All are autograph and signed with initials. Included are a postcard photograph of Berenson at ages twenty-one and seventy-one, and an autograph letter from Arthur Bliss Lane to Prince Paul.

Typescripts made by Stern of Lewis Henry Morgan's INDIAN JOURNALS, 1859-1862 (Ann Arbor, 1959), and of Morgan's correspondence with missionaries, traders, etc., pertaining to behavior in various primitive societies. This correspondence assisted Morgan in the preparation of his book ANCIENT SOCIETY (New York, 1871). The material was used by Stern in his publications, LEWIS HENRY MORGAN, SOCIAL EVOLUTIONIST (Chicago, 1931); THE FAMILY, PAST AND PRESENT (New York, 1938); and "Lewis Henry Morgan, American Ethnologist" and Lewis Henry Morgan: An Appraisal of His Scientific Contributions" in Part III of HISTORICAL SOCIOLOGY (New York, 1959). Also, photographs pertaining to Stern's THE LUMMI INDIANS OF NORTHWEST WASHINGTON (New York, 1934); typescripts made by Stern of the correspondence of Morgan with Lorimer Fison (1832-1907) and Alfred William Howitt (1830-1908) for the period 1870-1881. Fison and Howitt were prominent Australian ethnographers and used the correspondence in their work on Australian Aborigine kinship systems. There is also some evidence that the correspondence influenced a later edition of Morgan's ANCIENT SOCIETY. Stern selected and edited some of the letters for the AMERICAN ANTHROPOLOGIST (vol. 32, nos. 2-3, April-Sept., 1930).

This collection contains architectural drawings, photographs, business records and reference materials related to the projects and designs of Bertram Grosvenor Goodhue and his successor firm, Mayers, Murray & Philips, primarily in the New York City region. A large portion of the collection consists of personal and professional correspondence to and from Goodhue from the early 1900s until his death in 1926. Relatively few architectural drawings from his professional practice survive.

Very rare album of 70 photographic prints of the Russo-Japanese War by George Henry Rogers, operator and the war correspondent of the Charles Urban Trading Co. He has made his application from Paris. Here he waited three months before a permit to go to Russia was granted. After waiting three weeks in St. Petersburg, he was allowed to proceed as far as Irkutsk. At this town, he was turned out of the train, on the ground that transport was needed for the military for war stores. So Mr. Rogers bought a sledge and three ponies, and fortunately falling in with a troop of cossacks arrived, after seventeen days travelling, at Harbin where he was by the end of April (source: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0821146/plotsummary). During that time, George H. Rogers managed to film the newsreel "The Russian Army in Manchuria" as well as took photos that were included in the album entitled "The Bioscope, with the Russian Army in Manchuria." Photographs captured scenes of the war including Russian troops in Irkutsk; Generals Kuropatkin, Grekov and Rennenkempf; reservists getting on the train; Russian infantrymen; a Cossack division; General Kuropatkin with viceroy of Mukden; General Kuropatkin in Harbin; beheading of prisoners; photographs of Rogers. There is an inscription in French: "Dédié Respectueusement a mm. les Généraux Rennenkampf et Grekoff en témoignage de remerciement pour leur courtoisie envers l'auteur, qui a suivi les troupes russes en mandchourie depuis le commencement de la guerre. G. H. Rogers Janvier 1905."

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, subject files, questionnaires, photographs, and printed materials. Cataloged correspondents are Ilín, Anton Denikin, Ivan Shmelev, Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev, and Kirill Zaĭt︠s︡ev. Correspondence primarily concerns the Russian embassy in Stockholm through 1920 and the Russian Christian Labor Movement (1931-1940). Manuscripts are mostly by Ivan Ilín on anti-Communist topics. Subject files generally concern conferences of the Russian Christian Labor Movement, and also contain information on the Conference Economique des Allies a Paris (1916), the Russian embassy in Stockholm, and Witte's visit to Norway in 1894. Questionnaires, photographs and printed materials mostly deal with the Russian Christian Labor movement. Printed materials contain issues 7-91 of the periodical "Novy put"́ of the Bureau of Russian Christian Workers. The great majority of this collection concerns the Russian Christian Labor Movement.

Manuscripts. a diploma, a photograph, and a book of Balakan. The manuscripts consist of apparently unpublished stories and novels by Balakan. Balakan's diploma is from the Institut Franco-Russe des Sciences Sociales, Politiques et Juridiques (1934); the book is his "Sud idet" (Paris, 1969).
