Correspondence and manuscripts. The collection includes manuscript drafts and typescripts of two volumes of his autobiography: THE OLD CENTURY AND SEVEN MORE YEARS, 1938; and THE WEALD OF YOUTH, 1942. There are also 13 volumes of early notebooks for the period 1894 until 1909 (from age 8 to 22) containing drafts of over 200 poems, 19 short stories and many drawings. There is some correspondence about the autobiography. Also includes 21 letters from Arnold Bennett, 51 letters from Lady Ottoline Morrell, 26 letters from H.M. Tomlinson, 19 letters from Sassoon to his mother-in-law, Lady Gatty, 22 letters from Sassoon to his son, letters from many others, and a typescript of his poem "A love affair" with holograph note

Correspondence, manuscripts, subject files and research notes of Sigmund Diamond. Included among the correspondence are Diamond's letters to and from various distinguished members of Columbia University and other academic insitutions, as well as correspondence with many noted sociologists and historians. Included in the manuscripts is Diamond's "In Quest." The subject files comprise material from Diamond's tenure at Columbia and include some material pertaining to his forced departure from Harvard in the 1950's due to his previous communist affiliation, and his active role in maintaining the efficacy of the Freedom of Information Act. The research files include microfilms and notes.

Abstract Or Scope

Lists, subject files, photographs, etchings and printed materials relating to the Pazheskii Korpus (imperial Corps of Pages), a school for the sons of the Russian nobility founded in 1802, and the Soiuz Pazhei (Union of Pages), the emigré alumni organization founded in 1920. The materials were collected by representatives of the Union of Pages. The collection consists chiefly of mimeographed newsletters, books, printed mementoes, such as programs, menus, tickets, and school forms, and of pictorial materials, especially photographs and etchings. The great majority of the materials pertain to the Imperial Corps of Pages and to Russia's imperial family, and include many unusual photographs portraying school life and the life of the family of Nicholas II. There are also old photographs of Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Tsarskoe Selo, printed reports of the State Council for 1894-99, newsletters published by the Union of Pages and miscellaneous Russian and foreign publications, originally part of the library of the museum of the Union of Pages in Paris.

Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center records, 1959-1995

The records include annual reports, correspondence, memos, minutes, program files, news clippings, administrative records and photographs. They document the agency from its origins in a committee led by the Lenox Hill Neighborhood Association to its work during the 1990s providing social services to thousands of East Side residents. The founding and early history of the Stanley M. Isaacs Neighborhood Center are best documented by minutes in Series II, showing the collaboration between the New York City Housing Authority and the Lenox Hill Neighborhood Association to establish the agency. They also offer the most comprehensive view of administrative, fundraising and program decisions from the early years to the 1990s. This series is supplemented by architectural drawings and plans for the community center in Series VI. Program records in Series V focus on the period 1980-90, with a few items from the 1960s and '70s. The agency's fundraising efforts are documented in Series III, which includes correspondence with foundations and individuals, donor lists and committee files.

The papers consist of business records, manuscripts, documents, photographs, and maps. Most of the business records (financial records, lists of employees, incorporation of papers, etc.) concern the company, "Torgovyĭ Dom I.P. Kolokolńikova Nasledniki", in 1917-1919. The company was based in Ti︠u︡men ́and dealt in such commodities as flour, tea, and sugar. Also included are materials on the Teti︠u︡khi Mining Company (silver and lead mines), and on a project to build a network of grain elevators in Manchuria in the early 1920s. There are maps and statements concerning a dispute over land property borders in the Ti︠u︡men ́region in the late 19th century.

The collection consists of correspondence, manuscripts, notebooks, diagrams and tables, lists of addresses, and printed materials. Correspondence is mostly drafts of letters by Novak and letters to and from Mark Weinbaum. The bulk of the collection consists of manuscripts by Novak dealing with topics in engineering and physics. Novak criticizes Einstein's Theory of Relativity and Newton's laws of mechanics in his discussions. Notebooks include drafts of articles. Diagrams and tables mostly complement his manuscripts. Printed materials include copies of a pamphlet by Novak"Fizika 3-khmernogo prostranstva.".

There are radio dispatches from wartime Yugoslavia and from Greece in 1944, Office of Strategic Services (OSS) reports and analysis concerning Greece, Turkey, Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and the Far East, and a pamphlet reflecting his later work with UNICEF.
