The collection contains correspondence, documents, manuscripts, a diary, memoirs, subject files, photographs and printed materials, mostly pertaining to Bishop Sergii of Prague and the Russian Orthodox Church in emigration. Included is a manuscript (49 p.) entitled "Russkim russkii o russkikh delakh." The subject files on Bishop Sergii contain correspondence, manuscripts, memoirs, photographs and miscellaneous items by and about the bishop.

The papers consist of correspondence, autograph books, manuscripts, photographs and printed materials. There are letters from Mark Aldanov, Ivan Bunin, Antonin Ladinskiĭ, Vasiliĭ Nemirovich-Danchenko, Alekseĭ Remizov, Ivan Shmelev, Nadezhda Teffi and Boris Zaĭt︠s︡ev, as well as one letter each from Konstantin Balʹmont, Aleksandr Grechaninov, Vladislav Khodasevich, Aleksandr Kuprin, and Vladimir Nabokov. The autograph albums (owned by Marii︠a︡ A. Berman and Potresov) cover the years 1906-1907 and 1913-1948, respectively, and have entries by Balʹmont, Ivan Bilibin, Bunin, Nabokov, and Maksimili︠a︡n Voloshin, among others. The manuscripts include a poem by Mother Marii︠a︡ and articles, diaries, and a play by Potresov. The printed materials primarily consist of clippings of Potresov's articles in newspapers and journals. In addition to the loose clippings, there are six scrapbooks with clippings of Potresov's articles pasted in.

Papers of S. E.Vittenberg. Vittenberg's diaries cover from April 1918 to May 1919. The brief (6 p.) typescript memoir discusses, in the third person, Vittenberg's mission to Moscow in July 1918 to arrange for an exchange of Russian and Finnish prisoners. Also included is a supplement by Ekaterina von Maĭdel ́on the Russians in Finland in 1918-1919 (24 p.). There is a photograph of Kovanḱo.

Included among the list of 37 cataloged correspondents are: Vera Brittain, Edward Gordon Craig, Clarence Darrow, Havelock Ellis, Augustus John, Emmeline Pankhurst, Edward Steichen, Gertrude Stein, Algernon Charles Swinburne, Sybil Thorndike, Alec Waugh, and H. G. Wells. The cataloged manuscripts include a poem by Witter Bynner entitled "Hay Wagon." There is a large selection of Stephen's writings (poetry, novels, plays, articles, biographies, memoirs) including drafts of a proposed biography of his father, a bound volume of his own memoirs, numerous notebooks, and "Mount Joy," a description of life on Dominica. His photographs and paintings are well represented, with 6 albums of photographs and 2 boxes & 1 folder of approximately 200 paintings and sketches. The printed material includes works by Stephen, his father and his mother.

Letters written to Gay from political and literary contemporaries such as Horace Greeley, Charles Sumner, and William Bryant; reports in letter form from his reporters at the front during the Civil War; and personal correspondence including many letters from his wife, Elizabeth Neall Gay. Letters written to Mrs. Gay from family friends and business associates including many from her husband.
