5 itemsMemoirs and manuscripts of Sokolov. The memoirs pertain to his military service in 1914-1920. The most detailed account is "Kak ono bylo" describing primarily World War I. Shorter works include: "I︠U︡g Rossii" which describes the founding of the State Guard (Gosudarstvennai︠a︡ Strazha), which was supposed to replace the Imperial Police (1915); "Dobroarmii︠a︡--k sorokaletii︠u︡ kont︠s︡a vooruzhennoĭ Beloĭ Borb́y" which describes the 1917 Revolution and the formation of the White Army in Moscow, Kiev and Odessa; a lecture read in Paris, on March 12, 1929, entitled "Svi︠a︡tokrestovskiĭ Partizanskiĭ otri︠a︡d--v borb́e protiv krasnykh v 1920 godu i otkhod otri︠a︡da v Gruzii︠u︡." Also included is a typed copy of an unpublished novel entitled "Valerii︠a︡ and Vera" under his pseudonym Sokolovsky.

Included are reports of Russian military operations in July-September 1916; Krasnikov's military service record; and photographs from World War I. There are also two photographs which concern the Russian community in San Francisco in the 1920s. Printed materials consist of articles and a book by Krasnikov"Taĭna belogo doma" (Troĭt︠s︡k, 1918), written under his pseudonym, P. Karelin.

23 itemsPetr Pilśkiĭ's manuscripts include articles which are primarily essays on individual Russian writers of the late 19th and early 20th century, such as Belyĭ, Belinskiĭ, Bunin, Chekhov, Saltykov-Shchedrin etc. These manuscripts, most likely prepared initially to serve as introductions to publications of single or collected works, are typed carbons, apparently copied considerably later. The manuscripts of E.S. Pilśkai︠a︡ are chiefly memoirs, including recollections about her studies at the Imperial Theater School (Imperatorskoe Teatralńoe Uchilishche) in St. Petersburg, theater life in Russia, her stay in Odessa and Kiev during 1918-1919 and about the Soviet takeover of Latvia in 1940. Included in the collection are several articles about Pilśkiĭ by his wife and by A. Kuprin and A. Amfiteatrov.

Shvarts), Vera Dunham, Nikolai Vol'skii (Valentinov), and Avrahm Yarmolinsky.
