18.51 linear feetThis collection consists of two sets of records originating in the Office of the Registrar. A set of published annual reports containing statistical information concerning enrollment and graduates from 1924 through 1976. There is also a collection of 62 bound volumes noting matriculation status and sometimes grade and course information for students enrolled in Columbia College, the Graduate Faculties, Summer Session, Faculty of Fine Arts (Department of Music and Architecture) from the late 19th century to the early 20th century. Collection also includes matriculation receipt books from the early 1890s and some statistical information from Seth Low Junior College (1929-1936). Three volumes from 1785 to 1896 contain matriculation information for Columbia College students. Similar volumes documenting students enrolled in the School of Law and the College of Physicians and Surgeons were transferred to the Archives & Special Collections at the School of Law and the Medical School, respectively.

The reports include fact and figures (enrollment, degrees conferred, tuition, expenses, gifts, etc.) and topical discussions (co-education, new degree programs, higher education and liberal arts education, current events, etc.).

The committee files consists of correspondence, planning documents, questionnaires, and other studies. The "non-committee" records contain an extensive library of reports and background materials, both created at Columbia and at other schools. Finally, there are drafts, revisions and final copies of the Macmahon Report.

The interviews were conducted by Janet Sternburg. The binder also includes a final transcript of "Art on Film, Film on Art." The collection also includes two copies of the "Art on Film, Film on Art" video guide published by the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the J. Paul Getty Trust.
