Subseries III.1 contains an alphabetical record of individual clients and organizations with which the Ronald Hobbs Literary Agency interacted, including correspondence with publishers and clients, signed contracts, manuscripts, book proposals, newspaper clippings, promotional material, and printed matter, as well as personal documents related to Ronald Hobbs, including correspondence with family and friends and other writings.

Subseries III.2 contains a chronological record of agency correspondence with publishers, clients, prospective clients, and other professional contacts.

Contains letters and memoranda. Political topics addressed: immigration, power projects, campaigns, civil rights, McCarthyism, labor, health and housing. Names that frequently appear are Senator Lister Hill; Edward Marks, Executive Director of the US Committee for Refugees; Jefferson B. Fordham, Dean of the University of Pennsylvania Law School; Michel Cieplinski of the Nationalities Division (Democratic National Committee); V.A. Marcantonio of the American Labor Party; O.R. Ewing, Administrator of the Federal Security Agency; and James T. Farrell, an American novelist.

Comprised of a large amount of material from constituents expressing concern on a political issue or asking for the Senator's help. As in all the other subseries in Series III, letters to and from various government officials are found throughout. The same political topics found in subseries III.1 are addressed with an emphasis on agriculture, civil rights and immigration.

includes both personal and professional correspondence. Many letters are with regard to Julius's wife, Rivka and her health. Much of the correspondence is between Edelstein and both his family and Rivka's parents in Israel. There is some material in Hebrew.

This subseries is comprised of files related to Lerman's professional life as an editor and magazine writer. Included are files on each of the issues that he edited forVanity Fair,as well as files related to his work as a contributing editor atVogue.Also included are interviews with Lerman and files related to professional appearances and speaking engagements, as well as business and editorial files related to Lerman's book projects.

This subseries includes Lerman's own magazine and periodical writing, as well as manuscripts, drafts of unpublished material. This subseries is arranged alphabetically by publication in which articles appeared, and chronologically within that alphabetical arrangement.

This subseries includes research notes and drafts for Lerman's book projects, both realized and unrealized. A large portion of this subseries is devoted to his history of the Metropolitan Museum of Art,The Museum: One Hundred Years and the Metropolitan Museum of Art,a volume commissioned by the museum to celebrate its centennial.

These files from London's law offices were not dedicated to a particular case, but included court documents, pamphlets, legislative reports, and unpublished studies related to the history of obscenity and censorship. Included here are transcripts from some of London's appearances on radio and TV, in which he expresses his personal philosophy on First Amendment law.

This subseries consists of several slim files dedicated to some of the films distributed by Embassy Pictures during these years. London's role was to help the movies clear local census boards. Most troublesome was the Kansas State Board of Review and its determined chairman, Kitty McMahon.

These files have correspondence and meetings minutes related to the business transactions of the founding executives at Simon and Schuster: Richard L. Simon, M. Lincoln Schuster, and Leon Shimkin. Records include contracts, and drafts of contracts, related to several distribution and sales deals. An internal memo on contracts from the late 1950s maps out the company's grand strategy for the following years.
