Processing Information

Folded materials were flattened. Newspaper clippings were photocopied on acid free paper. Staples, rubber bands, and metal clips were removed and replaced with plastic clips. All materials were placed in acid-free folders and boxes. The finding aid was created by Margaret A. Laemmel in 2006, and edited by Leah Edelman in 2021.

Biographical / Historical

Kari Elisabeth Børresen was a Norwegian theologian known for her study of religion and gender. Born in 1932 in Oslo, she studied in Norway, Paris, Rome, Heidelberg, and Oxford. She was Professor and then Professor Emerita on the Faculty of Theology at Oslo University, and received the Norwegian Women's Theological Society's honorary award in 2003. Børresen died in 2016.
