James Hoyt letter, 1844-03-24This series is open for research. This series contains a letter written on March 24, 1844 by James Hoyt to his cousin, Mary Louisa Starr of Newton, Connecticut, while Hoyt was attending Union Theological Seminary. Hoyt wrote the letter from his room at Union, on a Sunday evening when he was recovering from food poisoning and was unable to attend services. The letter offers sympathy to his cousin, who has "been certainly made to drink pretty deeply of the cup of affliction; more deeply than most others of your age, yet less so than many." The letter also expresses a desire to see her. This series is arranged in original order. |
