Immediate Source of Acquisition

The materials in the initial accession of DBWE consist solely of project files donated by DBW contributor and IBS member Victoria Barnett. The DBWE Records were donated in several stages by Victoria Barnett and Clifford Green beginning in 2004 through 2016, with further analog and digital accruals expected.

Processing Information

Materials were rehoused in acid-free folders and archival document boxes. Rusty paperclips were removed and replaced with plastic clips. Photographic negatives found in box 12 were placed in an acid-free envelope. The finding aid was created by Rebecca Nieto in 2017 with the support of the Henry Luce Foundation and the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation, and edited by Leah Edelman in 2024.

Biographical / Historical

The Dietrich Bonhoeffer Works Translation Project (hereafter abbreviated as DBWE) was a long-running undertaking by scholars and Bonhoeffer historians and led by members of the International Bonhoeffer Society to translate the complete works of Dietrich Bonhoeffer into a definitive, annotated English edition, eventually published by Fortress Press.
