Faculty Club records, 1905-1975

Series I: Men's Faculty Club

This series contain the records of the Men's Faculty Club, from the earliest proposal, and then the removal from the Club's original location in South Hall, to the purpose-built Faculty House. The records include correspondence, administrative records and board meeting minutes mostly from the 1940s to the 1960s.

External users and Columbia affiliates may view materials on-site at RBML. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only Columbia affiliates may view materials on-site at Avery, Starr, and Burke. (From the proposal to establish an "officers club" in South Hall, to early days of the Club.)


Box 1 Folder 3 Faculty House, 1919-1924

(The removal of the Club from South Hall to make room for the construction of the School of Business, the construction of Faculty House, and the construction of the Women's Faculty Club space in Johnson Hall, the women's residence hall. Includes correspondence from University President Nicholas Murray Butler, Clerk of the Trustees John B. Pine, and the architectural firm of McKim, Mead and White.)

Dawson, Charles R. files

(Prof. Dawson was a member of the Chemistry Department. He held various roles in the Faculty Club from Chair of the Programming Committee to President and member of the Board of Directors.)
