Tax Mission to Japan, 1949-2000

The Carl Shoup Tax Mission to Japan materials include original correspondence from Carl to his wife Ruth; copies of the final report of the Mission; and photographs in three albums. There are also some newspaper clippings (in English and in Japanese), loose photographs in folders, negatives and color slides. The photos are for the most part annotated, either by official Japanese sources or by Carl Shoup, who arranged them in their folders. The materials were donated by Ellen Ruth Meyer, Shoup's granddaughter, in December 2021.
