This collection consists of Charles F. McCombs's course materials for teaching Library Service 301: Bibliography and Bibliographical Method at the Columbia School of Library Service in the 1926-1936.

    This collection consists of the course materials (outlines, notes, problem sets, etc.) for Library Service 301: Bibliography and Bibliographical Method. Charles F. McCombs and Isadore G. Mudge taught this course at the School of Library Service in the 1920s to the 1930s.

Biographical Note

Charles F. McCombs had an AB from Ohio State University (1909) and a BLS from the New York State Library School (1913). He worked at the Ohio State University Library (1909-1910); Assistant, Reading Room, Library of Congress (1910-1912), Superintendent, Main Reading Room, and later, Chief Bibliographer, New York Public Library. McCombs started as an Instructor in Bibliography in the Columbia Summer Session (1920-1926) and then served as a Lecturer at the reopened Columbia School of Library Service (1926-1936).
