This collection consists of photographs and negatives taken by professional photographer, Gabriel Amadeus Cooney for use by Columbia University in a series of brochures produced in the 1990s. The images include portraits of Columbia administrators, faculty, staff, students as well as images of the campus, interior and exterior images of certain campus buildings, classroom scenes, athletics, and even the neighborhoods surrounding Columbia University. Some images and negatives are in color, but most are black and white.
Arranged in three sub-series, this series consists of photographic prints taken of Columbia faculty, administrators, staff, students, campus buildings and features, classroom activity, athletics, and the libraries. These are mostly 8 x 10 prints but there are five 11 x 14 prints. Some prints are in color, but the majority of them are in black and white. All of these prints have corresponding negatives in Series II. Folders are arranged alphabetically in each subseries.
Arranged in two sub-series, this series consists of images taken of Columbia faculty, administrators, staff, students, campus buildings and features, classroom activity, athletics, libraries and the surrounding neighborhoods. They are primarily 35mm and some 2 ¼" square negatives in both color and black and white. The negatives are all housed in archival quality sleeves in binders found in their respective boxes. Each sleeve of negatives has a unique identifying number which is noted in the container list just before the description of the images found in that particular sleeve. The dates noted are those assigned by Gabe Cooney on the sleeves (e.g. 96919 = 1996 September 19). Many of these negatives correspond directly prints found in Series I of this collection as well as to contact sheets and prints found in Series I in the Office of Alumni and Development Photograph Collection (UA#0208).
This collection is arranged in two series.
