DescriptionSummaryThe collection comprises the author's typescript of the short story "On for the Long Haul" that was submitted to, and later published by, Esquire magazine. The collection also contains some editorial correspondence related to the typescript, as well as the February 1985 issue of Esquire that contains the published story. This collection has been collected and assembled from numerous sources by the staff of the Rare Book & Manuscript Library.

History / Biographical NoteBiographical NoteT. Coraghessen Boyle (born Thomas John Boyle) is an American novelist and short story writer. He was born in Peekskill New York in 1948. He attended the State University of New York, Potsdam for his undergraduate education, and continued his formal education at the University of Iowa where he earned an M.F.A. (1974) and a Ph.D. (1977). He published his first book, a collection of short stories entitled Descent of Man, in 1979 and won a PEN/Faulkner Award in 1988 for his novel World's End. He was inducted into the American Academy of Arts and Letters in 2009. He continues to write novels and short stories, and is a Professor of English at the University of Southern California. |
