Box 1 Folder 18-19 Correspondence of executive committee, 1894-1912, 2 folders

Correspondence of the Executive Committee regards personnel responsibilities, degree requirements, and the changing role of various departments within the Faculty of Political Science, the University, and American higher education. Correspondence dates from 1894 to 1912, but is concentrated between 1907 and 1911. Topics include: the role of the Associate Dean, restructuring of the Department of History to accommodate the divergent needs of undergraduate and graduate students and comparisons of the department with its counterpart at other universities, changes in the Department of Economics, the University Councils Committee of Eleven study of the status and popularity of the M.A. degree, and plans for increasing student interest in studying archaeology and history of art. The records also include copies of University Council resolutions of interest to the Faculty.
