Series III: United Nations, 1953-2006

This series contains materials related to Hazzard's work and writings related to the United Nations.

Subseries III.1: Correspondence, Writings, and Other Materials, 1958-2006

This subseries contains incoming and outgoing correspondence, background materials, clippings, manuscripts, proofs, and other materials.

There is also a small file that contains a few personnel items and personal letters.

Materials in Boxes 1-9 were received by the Library in 1990, and primarily relate to Countenance of Truth (1990). These materials include correspondence, manuscripts, printed materials, and research materials.

Materials in Boxes 57-59 were received by the Library in 2017 and include materials related to the United Nations as well as correspondence specifically related to Death of An Ideal (1973). These materials include incoming and outgoing correspondence, clippings, and materials related to Hazzard's participation in events related to International Women's Day (1977). Also included are writings by Hazzard - including articles, addresses, letters to the editors, etc. The materials in these boxes were originally stored in plastic bins and are a bit musty: the processing archivist interleaved some plain micro-chamber paper with the material in an attempt to alleviate the mustiness.

There are some additional manuscripts in Series V: Other Manuscripts.

There are a few photographs of Hazzard participating in International Women's Day (1977) in Series IX: Photographs. These have some damage, possibly water staining.

There is an audiocassette of a discussion on the United Nations with Hazzard and Gunnar Myrdal on March 18, 1975, with an epilogue by Hazzard, in Series X: Audio and Video Recordings.
