Selected materials cataloged; remainder arranged.
Correspondence, manuscripts, photographs, and printed materials. There are manuscripts for his books, short stories, articles, and other writings. The printed materials include books written, edited, and translated by Komroff, as well as his contributions to anthologies and periodicals. There are also a number of books by other authors inscribed to him. Most of the photographs are portraits of literary figures, the majority of which were taken by Komroff.
1986 ADDITION: Letters and photographs from the literary, artistic, and musical worlds, including numerous letters from Ernest Bacon, Cyril Clemens, H.M. Kallen. and Carl Zigrosser, as well as one or two from Cecil deMille, Lady Gregory, Edward Kennedy, Robert Kennedy, George Moore, and Georgia O'Keefe. The subjects of the photos are a similar group, including many of the same people.
Using the Collection
Rare Book and Manuscript Library
The original printed finding aid, available here as a pdf, contains received descriptions for correspondence and individual manuscripts, including descriptions for individual titles, and biographical information for individual correspondents and descriptions of their correspondence. Restrictions on Access
You will need to make an appointment in advance to use this collection material in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room. You can schedule an appointment once you've submitted your request through your Special Collections Research Account.
The following boxes are located off-site: Boxes 2A-41. You will need to request this material at least three business days in advance to use the collection in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room.
Terms Governing Use and Reproduction
Komroff's manuscript "A story teller's world" [autobiography] (Box 20A & 20B): has been copyrighted under the title "Encounters".
Single photocopies may be made for research purposes. The RBML maintains ownership of the physical material only. Copyright remains with the creator and his/her heirs. The responsibility to secure copyright permission rests with the patron.
