Moore also kept a register of his compositions. This register, in Box 103, is arranged chronologically. It includes the date of composition for each work, lists of all performances of which he was aware, and has notes on recordings and publications.

This vocal score was owned by conductor Emerson Buckley and likely used to prepare for the world premiere of The ballad of Baby Doe, July 7,1956, in Central City, Colorado. This early version varies from the final New York version of 1958, most notably with the inclusion of "Out of the darkness" (Act 1, Scene 2) and "Wake snakes" (Act 2, Scene 1) and the later added "Poker scene" lacking. Act 2, Scene 2 (i.e. Scene 3 in New York version) was altered and reordered significantly.

Title written in pencil on title page. Manuscript cast list for Colorado performance pasted inside front cover of first volume. Extensive notes on roles and voices written in pencil on title page.
