DescriptionSummaryNote, etymology, and cross reference cards, computer print-outs, page proofs, computer tapes, and bound typescripts. The published dictionaries included in the collection are the AMERICAN COLLEGE DICTIONARY (New York, 1947); the RANDOM HOUSE DICTIONARY OF THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE (New York, 1966), including the "concise dictionaries" of Spanish, German, French, and Italian; and the RANDOM HOUSE COLLEGE DICTIONARY (New York, 1973). Also, materials relating to the compilation and publication of music, Russian/English, school and junior dictionaries.

You can schedule an appointment once you've submitted your request through your Special Collections Research Account. ![]() This collection is located off-site. You will need to request this material at least three business days in advance to use the collection in the Rare Book and Manuscript Library reading room. This collection has no restrictions. Box 164 is missing and is unavailable for use at this time. The data on the computer tapes in Boxes 238-242 is only available on the original tapes, and is not immediately availble for use. There are no boxes numbered 243-273 in the collection. It appears that these box numbers were originally assigned to individual computer tapes that are now housed together in boxes 238-242. When the collection was prepared to be sent to offsite storage, smaller boxes and volumes were housed together in larger cartons. This is reflected in the container list.
