Box 2 Tenth Anniversary:


Box 2 Folder 1 Deals with the big meeting held to commemorate the founding of the Library Public Relations Council in 1939. The material includes a variety of items, advanced publicity, announcements of the meeting, letters concerning the event, handwritten copies of speeches, and minutes of the meeting., 1949, 14 items


Box 2 Twentieth Anniversary:


Box 2 Folder 2 Similar material to the above. Some publicity and news releases, letters of invitation to all the past presidents to attend, and their answers, arranged in alphabetical order., 1959, 22 items


Box 2 Archives:


Box 2 Folder 3 Largely correspondance. In 1965 Irene Moran was chairman of the archives committee. It was through her efforts that an- attempt was made to assemble any archival collection. She wrote to almost every past officer of the Council asking for any files they might have. Most of the responses were written on the bottom of the original letter., 1965-1968, 19 items


Box 2 Awards 1946-1950:


Box 2 Folder 4 The Public Relations Council awarded prizes to libraries for imaginative publicity campaigns. The material in this folder contains a great deal of correspondance about the Awards project and the various entries in each year's contest. Includes publicity about the event, requests for entries, forms, a few actual examples of entries, and lists of winners., 44 items


Box 2 Awards 1951-1973:


Box 2 Folder 5 Similar to the material described above. Includes publicity announcements, entry forms, correspondence, a judgment criteria form, votes on entries for some years, telegram announcing winners, galley proofs of one entry., 47 items


Box 2 Chapters:


Box 2 6 9 items. Dated c.1953. Includes materials from the Philadelphia, and California Chapters of the Library Public Relations Council. Includes some correspondence, membership forms, a few committee meeting minutes, and miscellaneous announcements., 9 items


Box 2 CHRISTOPHER MORSLY (now cataloged):


Box 2 Folder 7 The folder consists of correspondance to and from Christopher Morely, an American author, about speaking at a Council meeting. The letters are signed by Thomas Brown., 1947-1948, 9 items


Box 2 Cleveland Chapter Correspondence:


Box 2 Folder 8 A large amount of correspondence relating to the establishment of the chapter. A congratulatory telegram celebrating the chapter's first birthday, some meeting announcements, and membership lists., 1946-1952, 28 items


Box 2 Cleveland Chapter Meetings:


Box 2 Folder 9 Includes meeting announcements, election ballots, treasurers reports, membership lists, and membership forms. This material relates mainly to inter chapter events., 1947-1952, 27 items

Box 2 Folder 10 Includes letters, press releases, a copy of the Bowker Annual article, and an article by Marie D. Loizeau "Prom Brass Tacks to Brass Stars"., 1946-1966, 9 items


Box 2 Membership Promotion:


Box 2 Folder 11 This folder contains a wide variety of materials for new members. Publicity announcements, membership applications, membership cards, and bills for dues., c.1958, 20 items


Box 2 Recruiting - Dean's Dinner:


Box 2 Folder 20 Correspondence concerning the possibility of the LPRC sponsoring a dinner for the New York Association of Deans to promote interest in librarianship as a career., 1964, 4 items


Box 2 Recruiting - Proposed Guidence Meeting:


Box 2 Folder 21 The material includes letters of invitation to the deans of Simmons College, Columbia University, Drexel Institute, Pratt Institute, Queens College, Rutgers College, and Syracuse University inviting them to help sponsor and pay for a dinner meeting for guidence personel on the subject of librarianship as a career. Most of the responses were negative and the plan was abandoned., 1964-1967, 12 items


Box 2 Folder 22 Packets and Award Brochures, 1966-1967, 21 items


Box 2 Folder 12 "Packets* of good printed publicity are collected each year and sent to members of the organization and participating librarians. This folder includes letters, publicity statements, forms, announcements, solicitations for material and some promotional material., 1959-1973, 17 items

Box 2 Folder 13 Materials deal with the chapter in Philadelphia, most of it is related to one specific meeting. The folder includes letters, telegrams, and meeting publicity., 1955, 10 items

Box 2 Folder 14 The pictures are stamped October 19, 1965. Pour black and white eight by ten photos.Three of the photos are of large unidentified groups. The other one is identified on the back in pencil, as Beatrice James, Eric Moon, and Eleanor Vreeland., 4 items

Box 2 Folder 16 This material seems to be intended as a guide to libraries on the production of a film. The file includes correspondence, information, a guide to film making, and a tentative production outline and script., c.1946, 5 items

Box 2 Folder 17 Undated material. This folder includes materials issued under the copyright of the Library Public Relations Council. It includes two crossword puzzles, two pamphlets, and two copies of a booklet The Use of Television by the Public Library., 6 items

Box 2 Folder 18 The material deals with the planning and organization of material for a recruitment plan organized under the sponsorship of the LPRC. Correspondence about the exact form the plan was to take, rough drafts of the copy with additions and corrections., February 1963 - December 1963, 29 items
