Description

Scope and Content

Manuscripts, correspondence, mimeographed reports and seminar papers, documents, reprints of articles, clippings, pamphlets, and other printed materials relating to psychology, social work and social work education. There are files relating to Hofstein's teaching and professional associations and committees and materials concerning psychological testing and psychiatric treatment in the army during World War II.

In addition, there is a substantial amount of material realting to the Otto Rank Association, including metting notes, photographs, audio recordings.

Biographical sketch

Clinical psychologist with the U.S. Army from 1941 to 1946; Supervisor of Children's and Youth Services at Jewish Community Services of Long Island from 1946 to 1956; Assistant Director of the Infants Home of Brooklyn from 1956 to 1958; an instructor of social work at several institutions from 1952 to 1966; and associate professor at the Wurzweiler School of Social Work of Yeshiva University since 1966.
