Summary

Typescript memoirs of A. A. Borman, entitled "Vospominaniia o strashnykh godakh (1917-1918)", and concern his activities during the Revolution and early Civil War. Also included are published English and Russian versions of a portion of his memoirs, concerning Petr Struve's escape from Soviet Russia in 1918.

Biographical sketch

Arkadii Al'fredovich Borman (1891 - 1974), writer, journalist, lawyer, and public figure; son of Ariadna Tyrkova-Williams, writer and founder of the Constitutional Democratic (Kadet) Party. During the Civil War he fulfilled political commissions of generals A. I. Denikin and P. N. Vrangel. Emigrated in 1920, lived in London and Paris. Participated in "Rossiiskoe tsentral'noe ob"edinenie" in Paris; worked in newspaper "Vozrozhdenie", magazines "Chasovoi", "Signal", and other Russian periodicals. In 1951 moved to the USA, where he worked for 13 years in Russian office of "Voice of America" radio station. Contributed to "Novoe Russkoe Slovo" and "Russkaia Mysl'", and others. Author of a couple of books, including "A. V. Tyrkova-Williams po ee pis'mam i vospominaniiam syna", novel "Sinee zoloto", and memoirs.
