Leonid Vladimirovich Andrusov (11.28.1886, Riga – 12.15.1988, Chelles, France), German chemical engineer of Russian origin, PhD Engineering Sciences, author of the process for the production of hydrogen cyanide based on the oxidation of ammonia and methane, which is named after him Andrussow oxidation.
After graduating from the gymnasium, started his studies at the Riga Polytechnic Institute. During the war he was called up for military service, and in 1916 graduated from the accelerated course of the military school in Tashkent. In 1921 returned to the Riga Polytechnic Institute, and in 1923 received a diploma of a chemical engineer. In the same year he was accepted to the University of Berlin. In December 1925 received his Ph.D. and worked at the Physical-Chemical Institute of the University. For many years he was a chemist of the concern Farbenindustrie AG, where he headed a research group. Since 1949 settled in France. Buried in the Sainte-Genevieve-des-Bois cemetery.
