A small collection of professional papers and speeches written by Columbia University School of Social Work professor, Renee Solomon between 1974 and 2016. The topics of her writings and presentations are generally focused on issues related to caring for the elderly population.

Biographical / Historical

Dr. Renee Solomon DSW LCSW was born in Brooklyn in November 1930. She attended Brooklyn College where she earned her B.A degree in Social Work (1951), followed by her M.A. in Social Work from Columbia University (1953). Solomon later earned her Ph.D. in Social Welfare from Hunter College (1979). She worked at various community centers including the Hebrew Home for the Aged, before she began teaching Social Work at Columbia University's Graduate School of Social Work in 1969 as a lecturer. She was promoted to Associate Professor in 1975. Dr. Solomon was recognized as an expert in the field of aging, advising various agencies including the Jarvey Center, the Fortune Society, the JCC network, and other New York City agencies. Upon her retirement from Columbia in 2004 she worked as a private therapist and consultant until she retired in 2024.
