Douglas Kellner (born May 31, 1943) is an American academic and critical theorist who has worked at the intersection of Frankfurst School, cultural studies, postmodernism, and critical media literacy. Kellner earned a PhD in philosophy from Columbia University in 1973. He has taught for decades at the University of Texas at Austin and at UCLA.
Kellner's 1984 book, Herbert Marcuse and the Crisis of Marxism, is considered one of the most significant studies of the work of Herbert Marcuse. He served as the literary executor of the documentary filmmaker Emile de Antonio and acted as editor of the six-volume "Collected Papers of Herbert Marcuse." Kellner is a leading theorist of media culture and has written widely on pop culture, as well as the rise of Donald Trump.
The collection consists primarily of paper materials. Potential future additions might include VHS tapes, but this initial acquisition is restricted to paper and two CD-ROM discs.
