Volume 7

Volume 7(1) Volume 7, No. 1, 1910-1916

Manuscripts in library case, 287 pages.

This Volume mainly contains family stories, descriptions of historical events, and instructional tales.

Note on Numerations: There are four numerations present throughout the Volume. Numeration 1 is the continuous manuscript page number, written in (blue) pencil in the top right corner of a given page. Numeration 2 is the publication reference (35th Annual Report), written in pencil or ink (red, black), in the top margin of the page. Numeration 3's purpose is unknown, may refer to Hunt/Boas manuscript exchange. Written in pencil, and later on in red pencil. Initially the same numbers as Numeration 1 but then diverges and an additional "S" appears. Numeration 4 is presumably Hunt's page number relating to individual stories, i.e. they begin at 1 several times over. Occasionally, these have been crossed out by (presumably) Boas. Made in pencil and black ink.

Content from this Volume was published in Boas, F. (Ed.) Ethnology of the Kwakiutl. In: 35th Annual Report of the Bureau of American Ethnology to the Secretary of the Smithsonian Institution. 1913-1914. 1921. Part 1./ Part 2. Washington, D.C.: Government Printing Office. Shorthand to reference publication: 35th Annual Report
